[8/9/02] Revising the plan

Having settled on a course of action, Dex heads outside to speak with Coozer to find out his contact information to arrange a pickup of the new sensor array. Outside, Dex finds Coozer wheeling a tool kit over toward the ship, wobbling slighting. He grins somewhat drunkenly seeing Dex lower himself down the ladder to the sandy landing pad. Dex struts over to him purposefully to let him know that he should delay repairs since they plan on going to Mos Eisley to pick up the new array.

Coozer’s toolbox rolls to a stop. "You sure you want to spend a day makin' a trip to Mos Eisley with an un-spaceworthy ship with no sensors? I mean, the new array's gonna be here tomorrow fella…"

Dex replies, "Well, we got the impression that it might well take longer than that. We just don't want to be waiten' around longer than we have to be."

After wiping a trickle of sweat from his forehead, he dimly considers what Dex has said before replying. "Hmmm. It's gonna take a few days to fix the ship no matter what. I'm sure the array will be here before I finish all the repairs. Heh! This baby's pretty beat up. All you're goin' to accomplish is makin this take an extra day. Heck, you might run into a sandstorm and crash without your sensors. Why not let me work on the ship and if your parts don't show in a couple days, you could run and get 'em?"

"Hmm, well, let me discuss this with my friends," Dex says to Coozer.

He then heads back into the ship to pass the information on to Ian and Jarren.

Inside Dex finds Ian coaxing Ears out from behind the cargo where she refuses to come out. Jarren is watching feeling a sense of satisfaction. Dex begins, "You know, this actually gives me second thoughts," Dex says to his companions. "A lot can go wrong, and something may happen during a flight to Mos Espa, or to our visit with the Twi'lek that may delay us. If we get into any trouble, which can happen with these kinds of deals, we don't even have a spaceworthy ship to escape in. We may want to tie up this thing with Joko before moving on to other things. Not to mention, I am not sure we can fly half way around the planet, get the sensor array, fly all the way back around to visit our Twi'lek friend, and make it back here in a day even if nothing goes wrong. We may be burning the candle at both ends here, and if we get unexpectedly delayed, that could mess up our plans here.”

“Maybe we ought to go with Ian's plan: Try to slowly set up a deal with Joko by selling him a few with the possibility that we can find more. We can try to feel him out and see where he might be vulnerable. We'll just have to be extra careful that at the end of everything, we do not attract the attention of the Hutts on ourselves and ruin the deal with the Twi'lek. Even if we do, though, we can bag that deal. I can probably sell the gaming tables for more than we're getting from him anyway, and the ship repairs are definitely worth more than the 4000 credits he's paying. What do you guys think?"
