Jarren:
Jarren thinks about the information that Coozer supplied. Trying to decide
which details were true and which were just hearsay. Once back in the ship
Jarren lets Dex retell the story to Ian. When that is done Jarren tells
them " well this Joko character is starting to sound like the bastard that
Cal described to us, if Coozer is to believed. I suggest that we go and
meet with Joko, using the cover that we are looking to unload a crate full
of porn halo's. We asked around and herd that Joko was the man to talk to.
If we are lucky Joko will buy the Halos from us. At the very least will get
a look at where he operates and a feel for the kind of protection he has
and how he runs his operation. What do guys think?"
Dex:
"Wizards? What the heck is this goofball talking about. Has Ian's madness migrated? Maybe I ought to shoot him in the back," Dex thinks to himself as Jarren begins his questioning. "We're supposed to hit a lieutenant of a major crime boss, and he wants to know about wizards? I'll never understand &*^$#^% aliens," he silently continues.
He is not even paying attention to the rest of the questioning, but mulling over the fact that Joko is connected to Gardulla the Hutt. Though Dex does not know of her by name, being spoken of in the same breath as Jabba is enough indication that she is not to be trifled with. He thinks to himself, "Every thief this side Jomark has heard of the ruthless Jabba, the fat grease ball! Man, this could get really dangerous." He is definitely not prepared to make the same mistake that got him into this mess. Had he only spent another day casing that store and gathering information about it, he would have learned that the owner was paying off Rybo…Well, lessons learned the hard way are the lessons you never forget. And there was no way he was going to up the ante by messing with a consort of Jabba…"Unless…If we could find some to get the stormtroopers to get rid of him for us…Or at least dispose of him in a way that does not indicate murder…And it sure would be great if we could somehow in the process take that little green bastard for a bunch of money…But how?"
He ruminates over this for a while, until he realizes that Jarren is finished with his questioning is patiently waiting for Dex to come out of his cognitive daydream.
"Well, it sure has been nice. Maybe later we could have that ale?" Dex says. Nodding to the Omwati, Dex makes his way to ship. He is cursing himself for his lack of creativity. He just can't seem to come up with a clever plan to both scam Joko, while at the same time having the stormtroopers dispose of him. He'll have to settle for a more simple plan. "Man, if Reggie was here, he'd have cooked up a plot that got us all of Joko's money, put Joko and his brother in the clink, and russlled us up a couple of blonde hookers all at the same time." It really was too bad old Reggie got sucked up into that turbine engine. Man, crime lord sure do come up with miserable ways of disposing of their problems.
But that Ian's pretty sharp. Maybe he could reggie something up.
Upon finding Ian, he will pass on the information gleaned from Coozer, "Well, this could be tricky. You ever heard of Gardulla the Hutt? (he pauses for a reaction) "or Jabba?" (another pause). "Well, they are big time crime lords, and it seems that Joko is one of Gardulla boys. He runs the local protection rackets for her here. It seems that that bartender at the cantina me and you went to yesterday…Well, the bartender is Joko's brother. He's as mean as Joko, it seems from Coozer. If we hit Joko, we should hit him to, to make sure to cover ourselves. He's got another guy with him, he'll hafta go also.
"But it's going to be tough. I can say that we definitely don't want any trouble with the Hutts. They'll do a lot worse than sell us into slavery.
"Anyway, we may be able to find someway of sicking the stormtroopers on them. Maybe try to frame them. Or, we might just want to make it look like they disappeared, like maybe they were trying to run out on Gardulla with her money.
"Whatever we do, it can't lead back to us. Any one got any ideas? What do you guys think," Dex finishes, looking at Ian.
[OOC: If Ian questions me about anything that I may have left out, I will answer him as best I can with the knowledge I gained from Coozer. I am hoping that for the sake of time and typing, we can assume that Ian learns everything that we learned from Coozer.]
Jarren:
Jarren makes another suggestion " We could let it slip to the Stormtroopers
that Joko is suppling arms and equipment to the Rebels. If we do this right
after we make Joko's body disappear, and make his room look like Joko left
the planet in a hurry. Then the Hutt might think that Joko left because he
had screwed up and the Empire hot on his trail. Not to mention that that
would also mean the Joko was deal behind the Hutts back. Figuring that the
word would get back to the Hutt Joko ran for his life. What do you think,
could that work?" Jarren looks at the two aliens trying to read their
expressions then adds " Just doing a little brain storming."
Dex:
"That's not bad. It would definitely keep the Hutt's off of us. We'd need a way to set him up so that we could hit him with out witnesses, or any trail leading to us. We'd also need to make sure that we dispose of his brother and his other crony in the same fashion…What we need is to find out what he's into. A guy like that's gotta have vices. Maybe he's a gambler, or a Cago addict (star wars equivalent of crack); something. We find out what his vices are, and we should be able to set him up so we can do this nice and clean.
"We gatta find out a little more about the guy. It would be great if we could meet him. See what he is like."
Jarren:
"We need to make sure the girl doesn't know or we will have to deal with
her too"
Ian:
After considering the ideas for a bit, Ian says "I
like the idea of framing Joko and either letting the
huts take him out themselves or kill him outright
while everyone thinks he ran off. Either way, I think
our best course of action is to get as much
intelligence on Joko by either survellience or
selective questioning before we make a concrete plan.
I have a feeling this guy has enough angles going that
we can set him up quite nice. Maybe this guy and his
brother are double-crossing the huts or maybe they
really are supplying the rebels. The key to moving a
huge rock is to find the right fulcrum."
REF: Rick, are you going to mention selling the porn to Joko? If not, Dex
would be happy to steal this idea.
After his response, Ian thinks over all the information he has heard during
the day. "So much information and so little time to come up with a plan,"
contemplates Ian. After thinking things through for a couple of minutes,
Ian speaks up again to his associates, "You know, maybe informing Joko about
the porn holos isn't a good idea. If this leaks back to any of the huts, we
may get the table turned on us. Our buyer specifically warned us about
letting the Huts know and I think we should take that advice. If we are
going to talk to Joko, we need to come up with a better plan. Maybe we
should frame the girl and do Cal a favor. They both sound like losers and
Cal said nothing about keeping the girl out of the mess although he
certainly implied he wants her back."
Dex:
Dex replies, "Well, we could go ahead and finish the sale with the twi'lek before dealing with Joko. Then we wouldn't really need to worry about that anymore. I mean, involving the hutts is going to be difficult to avoid once we take care of Joko and his cohorts. All we can really do is make sure it doesn't lead back to us. And being that Joko probably knows we're looking for him, thanks to your discretion at the bar yesterday (Dex nods at Ian), we do need to have some legitimate reason for looking for him. In fact, it might work out to our advantage. I doubt Joko would let his boss know about such a small deal as a crate of porn. Maybe if this Gardulla slug wench finds out about it, it further advances her suspicion that the Rodain is dealing behind her back. If we sell him the porn, we gain a little more money, which is always useful, and it gives us some credibility as dirt bags."
Dex pauses briefly before adding, "Plus, if we do this deal first, we have a little cash in our pocket, get out of these rags, and get some good food in our bellies. Who knows, maybe this twi'lek guy knows something about Joko.
"I think selling the tables tom the Twi'lek, then trying the porn out on Joko is the best thing running. Once he has dealt with us once, we should be able to set him up easier. I not married to it, though. If you have a better idea, I am all ears."
Ian:
Ian turns to Jarren and says "It seems like we got
three possible plans: (1) we do nothing for the next
couple of days until this craft can fly and collect
information on Joko then run off to sell our cargo as
planned and then come back, (2) we try and sell Joko
some halos to get in with him and have a cover story
for my big mouth, or (3) try to set up Joko with the
Federation before we take off."
Ian continues "I think the cons of plan 1 is that we
may spook Cal if we fly off before the hit. The cons
of plan 2 is Joko may show up with a small army of
smugglers to rob us instead of buying some of the
cargo or he may sell us out to the Hut chick. The
cons of plan 3 is we would need a really good set-up
to pull it off which may require us to actually find
some rebels to double-cross them both. I am thinking
we should do plan two but only tip our hand so far,
meaning we slowly work with Joko to sell at most ten
halos as "examples" and promise that we will go pick
up more from a far distant port before bringing more
back. That way he may not think we have a losely
guarded ship full of quick wealth and it gives us a
good reason to fly out if need be before killing the
guy. Also, perhaps we can talk him in to "coming"
with us before the blast him out of the cargo bay into
cold space."
After hearing a response from Jarren, Ian looks at Dex
and says "Please add something if I missed a kep
point."
Jarren:
"We have a 4th option. We could tell Coozer that we will pick up the Sensor
array for him today, and on the way there or on the way back we could make
a stop over and deliver the gaming stuff collect the money and return with
the array all in the same day." Jarren explains. " That way, we get the
money, and make sure that the Sensor array gets here on time. Then we can
buy some stuff after that I vote that we try to meet with Joko and using
the cover that we have HOLO's (there you go Greg) to sell him."
Ian:
"I forgot about the array. Sounds solid."
Dex:
"I like this plan. Let's proceed. We should talk to Coozer and make sure that we can pick up the Sensor Array. Then I will call the Twi'lek and make the arrangements.
"We really should get some real clothes. I doubt we will be taken very seriously looking like this."
Assuming there are no more comments, I will make sure Coozer makes what ever arrangements he needs to make sure we can pick up the sensor array, then I will get in touch with the Twi'lek, and let him know that we are ready when ever he is, and that we should set up a meeting time. While I will try tom hide my anxiousness from him, the sooner the better.
I would also like to go to the clothing store, and see if we can rustle up some decent clothes for the 20 credits I have. If not, at least get me a decent set of clothes, as I will be the one dealing with the Twi'lek.
