[4/5/02] Down

After sitting on the cargo netting and sharing a nice snack with a large-eared space monkey with an obvious fondness for the hairy human, Ian's dream seems to be improving.

Up front, Stripe, in his navigator's role, states emotionlessly, "I think we should get as close to the settlement as we can."

Jarren wordlessly hauls on the yoke, twisting the ships course to a more westerly direction, heading toward the mountains. The ship protests, the sounds of it's straining engines changing their pitch as it dutifully executes the turn. Jarren reaches up and pulls the silver landing gear lever on the upper panel since he is unsure how much longer the popping engines will hold out. The ship shudders as the landing gear extends and the ship slows.

Jarren and Stripe hear an indignant voice from the back: "Hey! Do you mind! Watch where you are driving this thing! It isn't exactly a land cruiser you know!"

After suffering the piloting incompetence and finishing his snack with the happy Kowakian, Ian lazily sets himself to the task of investigating the ship's cargo. He starts with the container closest to him on the left side of the bay. The hasps twist easily and the container hisses with the change in pressure as the lid cracks open.

Pulling back the lid reveals a shipment of comercially packaged holograph datacards. Picking up a packaged datacard, Ian thanks his subconscious for helping with his ever improving dream. Two naked Twi'lek women, known galaxy-wide for their erotic dancing, are captured in seductive and compromising poses on the cover, hinting at the promise that awaits in the holo show. "Secrets of Twi'light" is the common title, "starring Lo'Mink and Sheela Twister!". The back cover reveals the marketer's continuing boast of the delights contained within in Basic and a variety of other languages.

Jarren gallantly tries to make the settlement and due to his uncanny piloting skills manages to coax the ship within 6km of it before being forced to set the ship down without taking unnecessary risks. Understandably under the circumstances, the landing is fairly abrupt and jarring, but only enough for a good jolt to the ship and not enough to break landing struts or cause other structural damage. Most importantly, you are all on the ground and alive!

As Stripe and Jarren eye one another in approval up front, Ian's fascination and further exploration of the other two cargo containers is cut short as he is knocked down as the ship comes to rest on the red-brown mesa. Luckily his fall is padded by the pile of rations and water [OOC: saving him from 4 VP damage], and he comes up smiling, holo card in hand.

Welcome to Tatooine.

[OOC: Made various rolls to determine things. I don't really want to post them unless you want to see them.]
