[4/2/02] In we go

The engines whine as Jarren applies a small dose of throttle, quietly giving the impression of control and power. The ship shakes mildly as it is brought about and righted, causing the stars to finally stop their spinning. The starlight is faded somewhat now that you have fallen further into the atmosphere, allowing you to see only the brighter lights. One particular far off star appears to be moving, however.

Crashing the relative silence, the radio crackles, startling you. Even with power re-routed from those systems, enough power is left for the audio portion of the subspace transceiver to function, allowing a garbled message to come through the ship's comm speakers. You realize that the transceiver must have been set to monitor Imperial communications, no doubt to help the Bothans in their avoidance.

" … looks … t… late. The ship is in the gravity well and brea …. *hiss* …too far to u … tractor beam … *long crackle* … home"

The reply comes shortly thereafter in a clearer, slightly static-filled, businesslike voice - "Roger, seven seven. Return to base."

What you had thought was a moving star arcs around in a sweeping turn, taking the opposite course. The glow intensifies as it's white-hot subspace engines power up, taking it away from you.

Turning back to the controls, you focus, ready to land the damaged ship. The human with green hair busily monitors the flight systems, making sure they stay within established parameters. Jarren yaws the ship back and forth a few times, unused to flying large starships before settling and tiltling the nose down at a shallow angle, taking her deeper into the atmosphere.

The side-to-side motion interrupts the welding in the cargo bay. You hear some soft beeping followed by the protocol droid exlaiming in it's distinctly polite voice, "Oh dear!" Then you hear more beeping that to your imagination sounds almost appologetic.

The livening prisoner asks Jarren, "I don't suppose you are busy enough to get up and fetch me a pint of Ando? And why you are at it, how about some mixed bar nuts?" He also sees a small, hairy-shoulded, rat-eared creature peeking cautiously into the bridge, tilting it's head quizically.

[OOC: Imperials failed their spot check by four with a six, so they saw you, but didn't notice your maneuvers.

Jarren will get a +2 synergy bonus for Stripe assisting with the piloting. In addition, relying on the navigation computer will give a +4 to his pilot check. Jarren himself is at a -4 for not having a starship operation feat. Landing DC is 20 in the ship's condition. I'm going to let Rick roll since this is a key roll in the scheme of things. Please send me the roll result.]
